WHAT IS ORIENTEERING? Orienteering is a sport that aims to find previously hidden points in the terrain as quickly as possible using a map and compass. The points, predetermined in the terrain, are shown on a terrain map given to the participants. Participants try to sequentially find these points by looking at the map. The participant who reaches the marked location on the map marks the compass card or electronic ring located at the marked point, proving that they have found the designated location. The participant who visits around 15 marked locations in the shortest possible time gains an advantage.
ORIENTEERING IN CORPORATE EVENTS? Orienteering is also known as a treasure hunt in corporate events. It provides participants with various gains such as teamwork, effective time management, completing assigned tasks, using time correctly, following job sequencing, making decisions with the team, and finding directions in terrain conditions.
What do we do in orienteering activities in Cappadocia?
Cappadocia Orienteering Equipment and Preparation:
Preparation of necessary orienteering equipment for participants: maps, compass, orienteering markers (control points), written instructions, etc. We keep a second set of equipment as a backup for safety purposes. We remind participants to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. (Participants should be prepared for windy or rainy weather conditions.) Planning Cappadocia Orienteering Routes:
For a two-hour activity, we use the Cappadocia Orienteering Course in Göreme. An average orienteering race is approximately 5-10 km long, but we can adjust the length depending on the participants' experience level and speed. Placing control points (markers) on the route: We place numbered targets on our orienteering course. Informing Participants for Orienteering in Cappadocia:
We explain the basic rules of orienteering to participants. We teach how to use the equipment and read the compass. We emphasize safety measures and provide emergency communication information. Cappadocia Orienteering Activity:
We distribute maps and lists of control points to participants. We designate a collection point at the starting point and give instructions to participants to follow the route. We ensure that participants find and mark control points. We direct participants to return to the designated endpoint within a specific time. Results and Awards in Orienteering Activity:
When participants complete the activity, we record their times and announce the results. Award prizes or certificates to successful participants. Feedback and Evaluations:
We collect feedback from participants about the activity and share it with the company and participants. This plan is a general guide we use to organize a two-hour orienteering activity in Cappadocia. You can customize the activity considering the number of participants and their experience levels.
