What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a martial art and combat sport originating in Korea. Athletes use bare hands and feet to perform various techniques. Taekwondo uses colored belts to indicate levels. The beginner level is white belt, progressing through yellow, green, blue, red, and black belts. Belt exams are usually held every four months.
How is Taekwondo performed?
Taekwondo matches consist of three 2-minute rounds with a 1-minute rest period between each round. Athletes compete within the established rules. Rule violations are considered fouls and result in a loss of points.

Kicking below the waist
Holding, pushing, or pulling an opponent
punching someone in the head
Deliberately bringing the opponent to the ground or feigning injury
What are Taekwondo techniques?
Taekwondo Striking Techniques:
Ap Chagi (Front Kick): A straight forward kick.
Dollyo Chagi (Circular Kick): A kick to the side and head area.
Yop Chagi (Side Kick): A kick performed to the side.
Dwit Chagi (Back Kick): A kick delivered to the opponent's rear.
Naeryo Chagi (Axe Kick): A kick performed from above downwards.

Arae Makgi (Lower Block)
Momtong Makgi (Middle Block)
Eolgul Makgi (High Block)
An Makgi (Inside Out Block)
Bakkat Makgi (Outer to Inner Block)

Ap Seogi (Walking Stance)

Week 1: Introduction and Basic Principles

Week 3: Flexibility and Strength Training

Week 4: Defensive Techniques and Competition Strategies
Defensive postures and counterattacks
Combination studies with blocking techniques
Competition simulations and strategy development.
Belts and Development Process in Taekwondo
In Taekwondo, the belt system indicates the progression of an athlete. Colored belts (Gup) represent beginner levels, while black belts (Dan) represent advanced levels.
Beginner Levels in Taekwondo:
White Belt (Group 10): Basic stances and movements
Yellow Belt (Groups 9 and 8): Learning the first poomse (Taegeuk Il Jang).
Green Belt (Groups 7 and 6): Combination techniques and basic competition training.
Intermediate Belts in Taekwondo:
Blue Belt (Groups 5 and 4): Advanced blocking and defensive techniques.
Red Belt (Groups 3 and 2): Advanced competition preparation and speed training.
Advanced Level in Taekwondo:
Black Belt (1st Dan and above): Master level poomse and competition techniques.
